In 1986, the music industry was exploding, and the cassette revolution was in full swing. Piracy was widespread, and there was secrecy in the production of cassettes. Recording studios were mushrooming.
To address this, Anil Chopra launched the Playback and Fast Forward magazine to professionalize the music industry. The magazine provided valuable insights into cassette production, studio design, A&R (Artists and Repertoire), and music publishing.
Playback revolutionised India’s music industry by professionalising record label management and A&R. Playback pioneered recording studios design and professional recording techniques in India.
Playback provided technology and equipment sourcing for high-speed duplication of audio tape to Indian Industry helping build India as the largest manufacturer of recorded cassettes in the world. Playback provided advance knowledge of optical media manufacturing (CD) to Indian market.
In 1992, the video revolution had started and the new avatar of Playback was created in the title of Studio Systems.
In 1992, the audio, video, and broadcasting industry saw the launch of Studio Systems, the new incarnation of Playback & Fast Forward, which was first conceived in 1986.
By 1992, with the advent of video recording, video publishing, and the broadcast revolution, Studio Systems played a pivotal role in revolutionizing compact cassette manufacturing, providing essential production information and key contacts to support mass production advancements.
The Optical Disc Replicator Technical Seminar Series (ODRTS) was launched in 1999 by Studio Systems
ODRTS ushered in the first investment into CD Manufacturing and Mastering and CD Printing.

The CINEMA INDIA Expo was launched by Studio Systems magazine in 2001. Studio Systems in its 17 years of existence has been deeply involved in cinema technology.
Optical Disc Systems (ODS) Magazine and Disc Tech Expo revolutionized India’s optical media industry by pioneering CD/DVD manufacturing and mastering. Recognized globally as the leading optical media technology publication, ODS set new benchmarks, while Disc Tech Expo attracted international visitors from countries including Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, Singapore, Thailand, and Bangladesh, positioning India as a key player in the optical media space.
Cine Tech India Expo showcased the full spectrum of cinema production, featuring cutting-edge movie cameras, camera support systems, post-production sound and video editing solutions, digital intermediate (DI) technology, and advanced cinema lighting equipment. Running concurrently with Cinema India Expo, this segment focused on essential cinema infrastructure, including seating, acoustics, franchise solutions, and signage. Highlights included state-of-the-art cinema surround sound systems, aisle lighting for multiplex theatres, and advanced software for managing multiplex operations, including ticketing systems.
Cinema Systems was India’s premier technical magazine, highly regarded and widely read by the entire motion picture theatre industry for its comprehensive coverage of cinema projection and multiplex technology.
OPTICAL DISC SYSTEMS, fondly referred to as ODS by the world’s leading experts and authorities in optical disc technology, was launched as an independent magazine in January 2002. It has been a trusted resource for comprehensive insights into CD, DVD, and optical storage technologies.
The first four ODR Seminars were successfully held in India, paving the way for the groundbreaking 5th edition—the inaugural Middle East DVD Summit (MEDS)—hosted at the Taj Dubai in December 2002. This landmark event catalyzed the start of optical disc manufacturing in countries like Iran, Egypt, Pakistan, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. Sponsored by leading European manufacturers, MEDS set the stage for innovation and growth in the region's optical media industry.
In 2004, Pro Sound Systems was launched, evolving from the pro audio news and pro sound editorial content of Studio Systems. This magazine was dedicated to providing in-depth coverage of pro audio and live sound technology.
CgA World 2004 marked India’s first global exhibition and conference dedicated to the graphics and animation industry. Highlighting the event, Adobe launched Maya to an enthusiastic, packed audience at the Nehru Stadium. This landmark show also introduced India’s first gaming technology, setting a new standard for the industry.
In 2004 Studio Systems acquired Imprint Magazine, which was in publication since 1961. Originally a leading political magazine, Imprint was transformed into a Foreign Affairs magazine following its acquisition.
The AV Solutions segment, dedicated to hospitality, education, sports infrastructure, and healthcare, was introduced to the PALM Expo to spotlight the expanding AV market. This addition emphasized cutting-edge audio-visual systems tailored to meet the needs of these dynamic sectors.>

The Middle East DVD Summit was rebranded as the Disctech Dubai Conference, centering on optical media manufacturing and mastering. This premier event highlighted packaging and printing solutions, as well as technology transfer, catering to the evolving needs of the industry.
Studio Systems was converted into INFOCAST SYSTEMS PVT LTD in 2005.
All brands of expos, conferences, and seminars were transferred to Infocast Systems Pvt Ltd. All Magazines inlcuding Studio Systems, Cinema Systems, Optical Disc Systems and Pro Sound Systems were also transferred to Infocast Systems with the Registrar of Newspapers.
Concurrent with palm expo laser lightening solution with stage entertainment and disco entertainment
Recognition of excellence in sound engineering is the mantra of IRAA. IRAA Awards Ceremony was hosted at the PALM Expo. Indian sound engineers for music recording and soundtrack are awarded for excellence by a jury. IRAA is the worlds first and only dedicated awards program for sound engineering.
Optical Disc Systems Magazine and Disctech Expo instituted the Optical Media Global Industry Awards. This awards program focused on optical media global innovation leaders. The creator of the white laser and blue laser diode was the first recipient of this prestigious award. He went on to win later the Nobel Prize on account of his recognition by ODS Magazine and Disctech Expo.

Concurrent with palm expo focussed on install sound in auditoriums, discos, pubs, bars, lounges, and hotel lobbies.
Concurrent with PALM Expo focussed on open air stage sound and live performance sound systems. In this period India experienced arrival of the first professional big stage line arrays and sound reinforcement. This segment registered real growth necessitating spotlight on Live Sound Technology.
Running concurrently with PALM Expo, the musical instruments segment was India's first and only dedicated expo for musical instruments, drawing renowned musicians to perform live at the expo. This vibrant feature has evolved into the PALM Live Arena in 2024, continuing to celebrate music and artistry at its finest.
Systems Integration Expo was concurrent with Audio Visual Systems Expo at the PALM Expo. This segment focused on information and communication technologies, showcasing the latest in display solutions, projectors, intercom systems, conference systems, and video conferencing technologies.

In 2010, PALM was rebranded with a fresh new logo, symbolizing its evolution as the PALM (Pro Audio Live Music Production) Exhibition & Conference. Conceptualized and organized by Studio Systems, the event embodies 19 years of unwavering dedication to pro sound excellence.
PALM was instrumental in the growth of the Pro Audio and Lighting Industry in India. This necessitated recognition of successful products and technology in Pro Audio and Live Sound segments as also stage lighting. ‘Palm Sound & Light Awards’ are the only prestigious awards in India. Leading global brands take pride in being selected to receive Palm Sound & Light Awards

Infocast Systems continued publishing Imprint Magazine on Foreign Affairs and International Relations from 2010 to 2015. The diplomatic community in India was enthused greatly by Imprint’s contribution in publishing news on their activity. However, due to lack of advertising support Imprint changed tracks to technology.
